“Areen Masrour Barzani, son of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, has recently undertaken several notable initiatives.”

• Establishment of the Kurdistan Foundation: In December 2024, Areen founded the Kurdistan Foundation, aiming to support and develop the capacities of Kurdistan’s citizens through various projects. The foundation focuses on youth empowerment, job creation, volunteering, climate change, education, and technology. Notably, its Jobs KRD platform facilitated 2,000 new jobs in 2023 alone.  

• Graduation from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst: In August 2024, Areen completed his training at the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Following his graduation, KDP President Masoud Barzani promoted him to the rank of Lieutenant, recognizing his commitment and achievements.  

• Valedictorian at the American University of Kurdistan (AUK): Areen graduated as valedictorian from AUK in May 2023, delivering a speech that honored the sacrifices of Peshmerga forces in protecting Kurdish freedom.
